It has been extremely challenging dealing with more bullying—this time coming from a real estate agent hired by my ex-husband. What kept going through this other horrific experience. besides my moving meditation, was one of the most compelling poems ever written
I died for beauty, but was scarce
Adjusted in the tomb,
When one who died for truth was lain
In an adjoining room.
He questioned softly why I failed?
"For beauty," I replied.
"And I for truth,--the two are one;
We brethren are," he said.
And so, as kinsmen met a night,
We talked between the rooms.
Until the moss had reached our lips,
And covered up our names.
- Emily Dickinson
The day ended with a majestic sunset viewed by the Hudson river waterfront. On my way back the sun was framed by the tunnel underneath the West Side Highway, a reminder that there will be finally light at the end of the darkness of these past years. And viewing the sun also reminded me that saving Sun Farm is important not only for to preserve the value of arts in human life—already an important effort on its own—but also as a statement of resistance against bullying, greed and corruption.
