camminando | PhD Second Chapter in the Southern Hemisphere

On March 4 I have landed again in the Southern hemisphere, hoping for the best. Here my first visual impression of the Waterfront experienced at end of summer.

Equinox | Sun Rising in Geelong

Finally, a few days after the September Equinox, the sun finally appeared in its splendid glow, to mark an almost perfect east-west line with its own reflection. I enjoyed viewing the rising from different frames, encounteredin the Cunningham Pier.

camminando | Palm Trees, a Pier and a Tall Ship

In Geelong a warm mid-fall day still offers me the opportunity for a healing walk along the Waterfront.

After recording the noon shadow of the usual palm tree, I encounter a replica of the majestic 1830 tall ship Enterprize: the tall ship sailed from Tasmania with the first white settlers that founded the city of Melbourne.

And some public art always frames the beauty of nature in the urban environment.

Shorter Days and Lower Light

As winter is approaching and temperature dropping, I am still enjoying my walks to campus. It is very windy now (25mph)  my room is quite cold and quite hard to believe than less than two weeks ago I was swimming in the Southern Ocean; probably it was the last warm day of summer 2013. As winter approaches uncertainties are unresolved. But the sculptural trees I encounter in my daily walks are still reassuring.
